BIOGRAPHY.

early life.

- finnegan isla roy, known to most as finn, was born the fourth and youngest child of logan roy and caroline collingwood. she is, roughly, three years younger than shiv (assuming their ages in canon are approximately: kendall, ~40; roman, ~36; shiv, ~33).
- finn's conception was not planned by logan and caroline and came along at a time where their marriage was seriously deteriorating. their relationship may have ended earlier if it weren't for finn. the rumor was that caroline went forward with the pregnancy in the first place to spite logan. the media mogul didn't want another child to take care of. but, no matter the reason, they ultimately ended up with finn.
- finn was an extremely sensitive child, something neither of her parents dealt with well. growing up, she always felt like she was on the outside of her family. she was constantly wanting for affection, and when she felt pain, she did the natural thing for a child. she cried. and she cried a lot. so much so, that logan used to make everyone sit an wait for finn's tears to cease, which often took some time.
- finn was also very smart, much like her siblings. she attended a variety of private schools during her education. though she didn't struggle much academically, her disciplinary problems proved challenging. in middle school, she tried to organize the students into a pseudo-union against the board. at one high school, she was kicked out due to a "practical joke" she participated in against the headmaster. ultimately, she ended her secondary education at an all-girls boarding school.

young to early adulthood.

- from her teenage years onward, finn would be described as promiscuous — by those close to her and by the tabloids and gossip rags that wrote about her personal life. online media and forums began to rise as finn grew up, and she hated the chatter. hated to be reduced to one thing about herself. yet, she hated the idea of having to stop to appease others.
- finn discovered she was bisexual as a teenager, though she only publicly has dated men. she kept her conquests a secret, surprisingly well for someone in the public eye. she was careful, never wanting to discover the full consequences of being outed.
- finn attended yale undegrad. initially, she wanted to try to get in on her own merit, but her complicated record made her give up rather quickly. she did well in school, but found herself getting involved with different social groups rather than involving herself on campus. she was well-liked, but not well-regulated.
tw: references to grooming, sexual assault: at 19, in between her freshman and sophomore year of college, finn was at home at the family's old house in upstate new york. some of her father's employees were at the house, and finn was the only one of the kids staying there at the time. a man who worked for her father, high up in the ranks, had previously charmed finn enough that she warmed up to him. but, he betrayed her, staying with the family one weekend and assaulting finn once they were alone. finn never told her father, but she began struggling, acting up to a new degree. there was a confrontation at a holiday party involving the man and finn that caused logan to reach his breaking point. he, effectively, shipped her off for a semester abroad in europe. finn never quite figured out whether or not he knew, on some level, what had happened.
- tw: references to drug abuse while in europe, finn continued to spiral. she was drinking in excess, doing whatever drugs she could. she developed an intimate relationship with pills (pain killers), and was engaging in a lot of high-risk behaviors, especially surrounding sex. it all came to a head one night in barcelona where hse almost overdosed while partying with friends (most of whom were relative strangers). after that, the old guard came and scooped her up. they sent her to a wellness center back in the states, and that was that.
- finn buried anything that she couldn't confront, from that point on. it was around this time that she started experiencing panic attacks more consistently, though she had grappled with them since childhood.
- she went back to school and boosted her academic performance. eventually, she went on to harvard business school where she received her MBA.

and all the rest.

- finn kept her distance from the family business for many years. she was, no doubt, as awful as the rest of them. but she could never quite deal with the bad taste in her mouth working with her family left her. plus, being on the outside, was an extremely familiar position for her.
- as much as she tried to maintain a rebellious persona, finn never ended up straying too far. at least, never far enough to find space outside of her father's grasp.
- although she doesn't understand it herself, she has always been driven by a yearning for her father's love. so, when her father called, she often answered...sometimes begrudgingly. but she couldn't get herself to walk away completely.
- at shiv's wedding, with kendall fully staging a coup and the cruises scandal on the horizon (the latter unbeknownst to finn), logan asked her to come inside. to stop fucking around and finally join the ranks of waystar as an executive.
- overall, finn is a lot of things. she's smart and capable, but unfiltered and emotional. she struggles immensely with commitment, not really engaging in any sort of it inside her relationships, in addition to vulnerability and figuring out what she truly wants. fickle finn!

VERSES.

  CANON VERSE    MAIN VERSE. set around season 2 & 3, inside the canon universe of succession. finn is an executive at waystar royco. usually the default verse for this character.  POST-CANON VERSE    ALTERNATIVE VERSE. set after the final episode of season 4 of succession. at the final board vote, finn supported shiv for the first time in their lives and backed her against kendall. she cashed out once waystar was sold, free at last. she moved to london where she eventually set up her own private equity firm, using her business sense to feed anything she finds promising and dismantle anything she finds tragic.  PRE-CANON VERSE    ALTERNATIVE VERSE. set prior to the events of season 1 of succession. finn consults in business but is mostly leading a life as a billionaire public figure.

relationships with canon characters will vary depending on the portrayal/writer. this is, merely, how i see their connections.  CONNOR ROY    older half-brother — as complicated a relationship as the rest of them, but with their age difference, connor was a slightly, slightly paternal figiure in finn's life. she thinks he's insane most of the time, but he's also one who has always, truly card about her.  KENDALL ROY    older brother — where shiv and roman have a special dynamic, kendall and finn have their moments of care, sympathy. rare, but still there. oldest brother and youngest sister, never fully understanding the other, but unable to let them suffer either.  ROMAN ROY    older brother — if shiv and kendall are the more 'ambitious' siblings, always duking it out, finn and roman are the more chaotic ones. similarly predisposed to make inappropriate jokes or comments. hard to read their capability.  SHIV ROY    older sister — possibly the most complicated of all, the two daughters of logan roy were always at odds. pit against each other from a young age. if shiv was on the outs, finn was inside, and vice versa. they felt destined to be rivals...except for the fact they were, also, the only two people that could understand the experiences and upbringing they endured.  TBD CONNECTION    — @blogurl

  PAST RELATIONSHIPS    people that finn has dated in the past. (men - dated publicly; women - dated privately); maybe someone who finn was serious, even just in the length of time they stuck around.  EYE-OPENER    the first woman finn was with; would have been when they were teenagers, so muse would need to be in early 30s (main verse).  OLD FRIEND    a friendship that dates back to pre-finn joining waystar. someone who knew finn before she, essentially, sold her soul.  NEW SPARK    would love to develop some kind of relationship with a new spark. while finn is bisexual, i think she likely leans homoromantic, so would prefer to explore something f/f or f/nb, but open. (note: finn is not publicly out in main verse).  FRIEND OR FOE    who doesn't love a frenemy? someone who pops in and out of finn's life, sometimes for the better, sometimes fucking things up royally. it's hard to know where these two stand. they may want to kill each other. they may want to travel the world together. maybe we'll find out.  MENTOR    maybe unlike some of her siblings, finn would have been pretty open to a mentor once she was in college/grad school. she never had a relationship with her parents, and she might have looked for some of those qualities in others. plus, if you want to be the best, gotta learn from the best. you know how it goes. they'd have to be tough to willingly put up with her, though. fair warning.

BIOGRAPHY.

early life.

- karolina novotney was born in kielce, poland to her czech father, ondřej, and polish mother, ada. they were also parents to her older brother, aleksandr or alek, and eventually, her younger brother nikola or 'nik'.
- after martial law was implemented in the early 80s, her parents became involved with political activism until her father was arrested. he spent a couple of years in jail until he was released under general amnesty.
- when karolina was 8 years old, her family made the tough decision to immigrate to the united states from poland.
- adjusting to american culture was tough for the novotneys. her father, in particular, took the move very hard. he had not traveled from eastern europe prior to their immigration, and he struggled to keep his family afloat. in poland, he had a managerial role, but in the us, he felt permanently stuck at the bottom. he started drinking as a result, to cope with the depression. karolina began to watch him slowly deteriorate.
- along with their father, karolina's older brother alek was having difficulty adjusting. he had more time growing up in poland, and he was very close to their father. alek absorbed a lot of the negativity and cynicism their father expressed.
- karolina assumed a lot of responsibility in their home life. she was the middle child acting more like the eldest. she made sure her younger brother kept up with school and helped their mother take care of everything else. she tried to extend that care to alek, too, but their relationship waxed and waned. alek was always up or dwon, high or low. there wasn't much of an in between.
- ondřej and ada's relatinoship also became strained. they barely spoke, and as alek approached adulthood, they decided to separate. with that, ondřej was desperate to move back to europe, so he took the first opportunity that came, settling back with family in the czech republic.
- feeling no sense of belonging, alek begged to go with him. karolina had a bad feeling thinking of alek and her father on their own. that they would only feed the worst in each other. so, she did everything she could to dissuade him, but there was no convincing alek. they both left and, slowly, communication between the novotneys broke down.

young and early adulthood.

- karolina was naturally inquisitive. her family was the first to take note of her intelligence. a lot of the english she picked up was self taught, watching television or listening to the news on the radio. words felt particular to karolina. like each one she listened to was chosen for a specific reason, and she was tasked with figuring it out.
- in school, she was a good student, at least when she had the time to commit herself to it. she had always been a rule follower. that was, until she found a slightly rebellious streak in her late teens. it was relatively short lived, but it did introduce karoline to some unique and uninhibited new friends.
- one of the friends she met, ava, was the first girl to noticeably come on to karolina. it was karolina's confirmation of everything she had suspected. she was a lesbian. she concealed this part of her identity from most everyone in her life, not trusting her old fashioned parents, not even her friends. eventually, nik became an exception to that rule.
- karolina went off to college at columbia university to study undeclared communications. things were going well, and she found a way to balance her schoolwork with helping her mother on weekends. it was during her junior year, with nik still in high school, that they received a phone call from europe. alek had gotten into a car accident, having driven his car into a highway divider. they were told he died instantly.
- after that, their mother retreated into herself, unable to bear the thought of losing a child. their father became, practically, non existent in their lives. by the time nik graduated high school, their mother expressed how badly she wanted to return to her family and friend in poland. she left not long after, leaving karolina and nik on their own in the us.

- karolina had a lot of ambition as someone who had the necessity for success intilled in her from a young age. when she closed her eyes at night, she could still hear the slur of her father's speech, face sandwiched beneath his large palms. he told her that she must do better. she must want more, strive for more than what they had been left with moving to the us.
- graduating with honors from columbia, she went on to graduate school while working for a political non-profit in their communication department. from there, she jumped around, gaining experience. she dabbled in entertainment, eventually making her way into coprorate america.
- life led her to waystar royco, beginning at a mid-level position and slowly rising up the ranks, gaining the trust of her colleagues until she became the deputy of comms.
- when her boss was vacating his position (supposedly 'voluntarily'), logan pulled her in and promoted her to head of comms. it was hasty, not quite like she had pictured, but she accepted it nonetheless.

  PAST RELATIONSHIP    i picture karolina as having one or two serious relationships in her past, one in particular that looked like it was going to last but, eventually, fell apart.  BUSINESS RIVAL    like a hugo, but someone more compelling and less-weasel like than a hugo.  MENTEE    karolina being one of a handful of people actually working at waystar? seems right. there's someone out there who wants to learn from her. who cares what expertise she might have to provide!  SIBLING    my karolina has two brothers, one deceased, but it doesn't have to be this way! would love to see karolina as a sister to someone, anyone that might spark your interest!  LONG LOST SIBLING    related to the above, who really knows what karolina's father did once he got back to the czech republic. or before he met karolina's mom. perhaps there's a half sibling out there (younger or older) that's looking for their biological family. how fun.

  LONG LOST FRIEND    did shiv hire bridesmaids for her wedding? never mind. point is, shiv doesn't have a lot of pals around, and it would be nice for one to reemerge from her past. maybe someone she ended up screwing over (in college, in politics), effectively ruining the relationship they could have had.  CLINGY FLING    how's that open marriage treating you? someone that shiv has hooked up with, casually, that has started to cling, definitively beyond what she is looking for.  MENTOR    when shiv was galavanting around dc, immersing herself in the political scene, she definitely wasn't getting her father's approval. maybe she had a mentor. a professor? someone more experienced in the field? shiv wouldn't accept a mentor outright, but she might let them posture good ideas in her vicinity.

early life.

- robert pierce, third child to media tycoon howard pierce III, and veronica 'ronnie' alderidge-pierce, heir to alderidge pharmaceuticals, met while attending school at the university of cambridge. at the time, robert was engaged to be married, but he was so smitten with ronnie, he broke things off to court her.
- years later, the couple married, and robert became involved with the family business — pierce media group — along with his two brothers. alternatively, ronnie's family sold their company, leaving her with no real legacy to grasp on to.
- tw: miscarriage, infant death ronnie became invested in having children, and she continuously implored robert until her finally gave in. they struggled to conceive at first, enduring countless miscarriages before conceiving a baby boy. unfortunately, due to complications in the third trimester, the baby was stillborn.
- they had all but given up hope when along came naomi, born a month early during a family vacation in naples, italy.
- she was their little miracle. she was also one of the youngest of her cousins, and as the baby, naomi was treated like a princess. adored and spoiled rotten. she loved every second of attention.
- robert and naomi were close when she was young, but it was with her mother whom she shared the closest bond. it wasn't until her teens where things began to fracture.

young and early adulthood.

- rumors of affairs started to circulate in the media. royco's publications, specifically, seemed to take particular joy in reporting the speculation. the gossip disrupted their family dynamic, and it angered naomi to no end. she was so used to getting what she wanted, and yet, there was no way out.
- as her parents grew embittered toward each other, each began to pull away from the family. they each had affairs, almost seeming content to one-up each other for the rest of time. which left naomi, perpetually stuck in the middle.
- naomi removed herself whenever possible, retreating to her social life whenever the opportunity arose. she was smart, but never gifted. she had a real interest in literature and the arts, but she grew bored learning of science and math. those subjects felt too rigid. no freedom.
- attending elite private schools in california, she found plenty of other offspring of the rich and powerful to fall in with.
- like any adolescent with unlimited resources and a lack of supervision, trouble wasn't hard to come by.
- naomi was driven by a need for adventure. she was spontaneous, not concerning herself with responsibility or consequence. there was nothing in life a little party couldn't fix. but as time went on, she began looking for more than just a party. naomi began chasing a bigger, better, grander high.
- her father was a heavy drinker, but addiction wasn't something the pierces looked out for. and with naomi out of their sights most of the time, she was free to fall deeper and deeper.
- naomi showed up to her high school graduation blazed out of her mind. she barely remembers the event, barely remembers accidentally missing her own graduation party. for one of the first times, her father had had it with her behavior. he called naomi, leaving a voicemail when she didn't pick up. but it was a call she would never get the chance to return.
- tw death a day and a half later, robert pierce died of a brain aneurysm, leaving his money and a pierce board seat to his only daughter.

- naomi was distraught after the sudden loss of her father, but she didn't know how to process it. her mother and the rest of the family tried to pull naomi back in and encourage her to get help, but she was in no place to accept it.
- she took off, traveling everywhere. really, traveling anywhere. as long as she didn't have to stay in one place for long.
- soon after turning 20, naomi met ryan hearst at a party off the coast of greece. ryan was alive. he was fun and exciting, up for adventure, and just as medicated as naomi was. they started spending more and more time together, not a care in the world to their names.
- after a few weeks, the two found themselves in st. lucia. no one can remember exactly how it transpired. all naomi remembers is a party with friends, lots of cheering and drinking on the beach. then, the next day, a ring on her finger.
- her marriage to ryan wasn't meant to be, but they had their fun, eventually sobering up to the reality once the news leaked to the press. it wasn't long before annulment papers were being pushed in front of her.
- from then on, naomi spent years yo-yoing. in and out of recovery, with her family minute, on the other side of the world the next. there were times when she tried. genuinely tried, but nothing ever fully stuck. there was no life in sobriety.
- while traveling with friends in south africa, naomi go the news that her mother passed away. a blood clot after a minor surgery. as hard as naomi tried, she couldn't get herself back to the states for the funeral. that, coupled with the complete depression she had fallen under caused her to wrap her car around a highway divider.
- she went to rehab not long after, encouraged by her family, practically pushed through the door by nan. it felt real. like recovery was within her reach. and for a while, it was. she sobered up, became tangentially involved with the family business. but, like all the other times, she couldn't bear the fucking silence. she slipped, though less of a crash, more of a quiet fall back into what she loved most. the high.

  CANON VERSE    MAIN VERSE. set around season 2 & 3, inside the canon universe of succession. naomi pierce is a board member at pierce global media.  POST-CANON VERSE    ALTERNATIVE VERSE. set after the final episode of season 4 of succession. she wants to offload her family's company to finally be rid of the burden, after getting screwed by the roys not once, but twice.  PRE-CANON VERSE    ALTERNATIVE VERSE. the party never dies! set prior to the events of succession. naomi is a free bird, going wherever the wind takes her, no real ties to any one person or place.

  EX-HUSBAND    who hasn't gotten married to a guy they just met before?? would love to see her technical 'ex-husband' back in the mix. the two were married for a total of, approximately, two months before parting ways. *does not have to be the character created for the bio, but should be someone who has wealth or, at least, pretends to.  WITH FRIENDS LIKE THESE    naomi has connections on every continent, excluding antarctica (or maybe not??). she's made a number of friends from her partying days, not to mention enemies, hook-ups, the list goes on.  COLLATERAL DAMAGE    it hasn't been all fun and games. on one of her trips, naomi skipped out on someone and left them holding the bag. literally. she let someone else take the fall for drugs that were absolutely hers, at least partially, and bailed.

early life.

- michael jordan (not that one) and leah jordan grew up on the same block in chicago, illinois. the two were never in the same social circles at school, but they would occasionally cross paths on the walk home or on the weekends. they parted ways after graduation, leah heading off to college and michael joining his uncle's construction company. but, one fated thanksgiving break, they bumped into each other and ended up spending the entire evening talking.
- the two were married young and began their lives together. leah made her living as a school teacher while michael worked to become a contractor. eventually, leah fell pregnant with their first child, and neither of them had pictured raising a family in a busy city. so, they moved to milwaukee where they welcomed their baby girl jessica jordan
- jess had a pretty average upbringing. both of her parents worked, and when she was five, they welcomed her little sister arianna to the family.
- growing up wasn't perfect. being a family of mixed race in wisconsin wasn't without it's challenges. jess felt ostracized as a kid, whether it be for her skin color or her hair. but, she had a loving family around her to ease some of the discomfort.

young and early adulthood.

- jess was a smart kid. she did well in school, always completed her assignments on time, and was generally well liked. the definition of a pleasure to have in class. she didn't struggle too much academically, but she also didn't feel particularly drawn to anything specific. there was no talent or interest that presented itself, which made her feel utterly average most of the time.
- her family was middle class, but their income largely depended on how much business her father could bring in. paying for higher education wasn't guaranteed, so jess worked hard, got a part time job, and focused on school as much as possible.
- she secured a scholarship to northwestern university where she decided to pursue a bachelor's in psychology.
- her chosen degree had less to do with passion and more to do with having to submit something in her application. it wasn't that psychology wasn't interesting. she just didn't know if it was he calling. truthfully, she had no clue how she was supposed to figure out what her calling was.
- being a psych major wasn't all bad, though. jess learned a lot about people and how they operate. she was always a naturally empathetic person, but understanding the science of people and personality helped her anticipate the needs of those around her. she became rather skilled at deescalating situations, even receiving a job as an ra her senior year.
- she had a small group of friends, and she felt mostly content. still, as her graduation date loomed, she struggled to figure out what exactly to make of her next steps.

- when jess graduated, she had nothing lined up for herself, so she joined a friend who was moving to new jersey as a part of teach for america. jess grew up the daughter of an educator, so she knew she had no desire to be in a classroom.
- instead, she began temping, trying out different jobs in healthcare and tech. she landed at a marketing firm eventually, temping as an assistant to one of the project managers. her work was good. dilligent, great attention to detail. she knew how to anticipate needs before anyone had to ask. they brought her on full time as a replacement.
- a couple of years down the road, her boss was leaving for a job at waystar royco in their ad revenue and sales division. he asked jess to come with him, and though she was hesitant to join a company with a less-than-spotless reputation, jess saw it as a great career opportunity and joined the ranks.
- a few months in, jess was sitting in on a meeting with her boss when the then-president kendall called half the team away with an emergency. somehow, jess got brought into the mix.
- the energy was chaotic and uncertain. disorganized, which didn't please the higher ups. it was unlike her to step on toes, but lacking any better course of action, jess stepped in to help.
- it wasn't noticed, of course, until much later. once the fires were out and things had settled down, jess was one of the few left wrapping things up. every time kendall would ask for the status of something, she had it. when he gave her a task, she had already anticipated it. he was impressed. as impressed as a roy could be.
- clearly, jess made an impression, because a few days later, she was brought into a meeting with kendall's team to come on as his personal assistant. jess had no idea how to react or how she might adjust to a life that was surely to be filled with long nights and chaotic whirlwinds. but, she found herself accepting the position, and the rest was history.

  SISTER.    jess has a younger sister that i think would be amazing to bring in to the fold. name and personality are totally up to player.  OLD BOSS.    the boss that brought her in to waystar royco in the first place. maybe they still connect in a mentor/mentee sort of way. maybe he's pissed that she left him in a lurch as soon as kendall roy dangled dollar bills in front of her face.  OFFICE FLAME.    what are the chances that a secret romance bloomed right under the roys' noses? with jess's schedule basically being on call for kendall 24/7, her social life is pretty stagnant. however, she sees her colleague *plenty *, which opens up the possibility for...what's that? a slow burn office romance? hell yeah.  MORALITY POLICE.    friends from home or college, people that knew jess before waystar, that don't understand how she can work for people as messed up as the roys.

early life.

- ivan volkov and anna goran both came to america, from the ukraine, with their families when they were young adults. they settled in just outside of boston, building a small community for themselves and their fellow ukrainian friends and family.
- ivan and anna had been seeing each other, but they had not discussed a more serious relationship. that was, until anna found out she was pregnant.
- their families encouraged them to get married once the news broke, though both were reluctant. they ended up signing a piece of paper to pacify their family. only ivan and anna knew they never actually mailed it in.
- alex goran was born in april, and she took her mother's last name, an break from tradition anna was insistent on. with one look at alex, anna knew she was no alexandra, and suggested they name her just alex. but ivan didn't like the idea. she was a girl, and therefore, she should have a 'girl name.' so, her birth certificate read 'alexandra,' but from that moment on, she was only ever just alex.
- like most, alex can't remember much from early childhood, which in turn meant she couldn't remember much of her father at all. as his daughter turned four, ivan had reached his breaking point. he had never wanted children. life was turning out differently than he had envisioned. one day, he decided to take matters into his own hands and leave his family behind.
- the abandonment shocked their close-knit community, but everyone lent a hand where they could to ensure anna could work and provide for her and alex.

young and early adulthood.

- because alex doesn't remember much about her father, she had all but written him off by the time she became a teenager. if he didn't want her, she certainly had no need for him.
- she was easily adaptable, able to cast our whatever wasn't serving her with ease. this made her tough. a bit rough around the edges, but her charm still had the power to pull people in.
- alex as very sociable, a decent student, well-rounded in the sense that she sought to try different things. even if she wasn't sure what they would produce. she could try her hand at piano or tennis or the debate team. if she didn't pick it up after a bit, she lost interest and would move on to the next.
- by the time she graduated high school, alex had a healthy pick of colleges, but she chose to go somewhere that would be different than the community she grew up in. duke university. while the adjustment period wasn't always easy, alex was particular in choosing this challenge for herself. if she really wanted to make it, this was only the first instance where she'd have to navigate completely new territory that lived far outside of her comfort zone.

- college is, essentially, a breeze for alex, she graduates magna cum laude with a degree in marketing communications and a ton of internship experience to boot.
- the logical next step was either grad school or a job, but she's never been one to take the easy route just because it's easy, so alex embarks on a grad program at northwestern university and begins interning at a brand marketing agency.
- while in grad school, alex hits it off with a ta, noah. when it becomes clear that noah is interested in being more than friends, alex distances herself. she doesn't do relationships. but noah is not only persistent, he's smitten. dangerous place to be in regards to someone like alex.
- it takes almost two years of hanging out, casual dates, and one or two drunken nights before alex agrees to go out with him. in a real way, at least.
- eventually, noah wants to get married, and with alex's career on the forefront of her mind, she really doesn't see the point. but he's insistent, and doesn't necessarily see the point of staying in chicago if they don't have a solid foundation to build on. he wears her down, and after a long, long engagement, the two wed. they have two kids, and it's all very normal.
- however, alex can't keep herself in just one box for the rest of her life. it's going to suffocate her, and she won't let that be her story. a cranky mother of two who lives in regrets and finds solitude in the bottom of a bottle of gin. so, she makes her own arrangements. takes advantage of many, many business trips to live different lives.

VERSES.

  CANON VERSE,    MAIN VERSE. takes place around the events that were canon to up in the air. alex is a marketing exec who frequently travels around the country, living a separate life from the one she keeps at home. aka: the married but having an affair verse.  SUCCESSION VERSE,    ALTERNATE VERSE. all the business-y people will end up here. alex enters the succesion universe, still as a corporate marketing exec. this time, she's been brought in as an outside agency to consult for waystar royco. (can be anytime throughout succession canon, as they were always in deep shit. just pick a scandal, pick a launch).  DIVORCE VERSE,    ALTERNATE VERSE. same as the canon verse, except her husband is divorcing her after everything.

a quick gist: zav has worked with the company for years, was hired out of london in his early to mid twenties for a low level job in finance. it's fine, nothing special. zav has no idea what they're supposed to be doing with this company, and he believes that really no one else does either.
about five years down the line with a couple of menial promotions, zav ends up saving karl's ass on a proposal where numbers had been inverted. he covered well, literally sent karl spinning. having avoided a lot of embarrassment, karl liked zav and started bringing him on to more teams, eventually to lead, and eventually eventually transferring him to new york.- all in all, zav believes everyone working at waystar has sold their souls. him included! he's a cynic for sure and he's not all "hey, you're going to burn in hell" about it, but the thought he might one day be a decent person is truly out the window for him. he jokes about it, yeah, but also it's 100% not a joke! it's over people!- in a way, he hates the roys, and it's in the way a group project leader might hate his group that never shows up to class. he sometimes wants to shake them and yell "why??????" over and over again. it's not about disagreeing with them, it's that half the time the decisions they make seem to be flat out wrong. and it's not that zav always has to be right, it's just that he so often is. like most of the time. he's right and that means...nothing??? he's going to pull out his hair one day and leave a trail on the way to the elevator.- could leave but, again, soul is alrady gone so what's the point? and also, stock options. 401k. he's accepted things.-also logan roy used to call him zack, exclusively. one time logan fired "zack" and karl told him to take a couple days pto, and by the time zav came back, "zack" was still out, but zav was allowed to stay. fun !- kind of hates the roys, but has romanticized shiv roy in his head??? not a crush, not a crush. maybe a crush??? on shiv roy??? but nah definitely not. there is no soft spot there.
